Her Honour Judge Louise Goodchild

Her Honour Judge Louise Goodchild was appointed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) on 6 February 2023. Her Honour sits in the Brisbane Registry of the Court hearing cases in the family law jurisdiction and general federal law jurisdiction. Her Honour was appointed as the Special Indigenous List Judge in January 2025.

Her Honour holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. She also holds a Master of Arts. Her Honour was admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia in 1992. Her Honour was admitted to practice as a barrister in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2005 and practiced continually until her appointment to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) in 2023. Her Honour was a Senior Legal Member of the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal from 2010-2016. Her Honour has lectured in law at the University of Western Sydney and University of Technology.
