Isabella Copetti

Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service (QIFVLS)

Isabella Copetti is a Deputy Principal Legal Officer at the Queensland Indigenous Family Legal Service. Isabella completed her Bachelor of Laws at James Cook University in Cairns graduating in 2018.

During her studies, Isabella volunteered at the North Queensland Women’s Legal Service with a particular interest in assisting vulnerable community members experiencing domestic and family violence. Following this Isabella worked as an Associate to Her Honour Judge Fantin in the District Court of Queensland in 2018 whilst completing her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with the Australian National University.

In 2018, Isabella was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Lawyer and later to the High Court of Australia in 2019.

From 2019, Isabella joined the Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service providing assistance and legal representation in the areas of Child Protection, Domestic Violence and Family Law and is currently the Deputy Principal Legal Officer overseeing the Cairns, Townsville, Bamaga and Thursday Offices.

In 2022, Isabella was named a Finalist in the Lawyers Weekly, Women in Law awards in the categories of ‘Not For Profit Lawyer of the Year’ and ‘Pro Bono/Community Legal Centre Lawyer of the Year”. In 2023, Isabella was also named a Finalist in the 30 Under 30 Law Awards in the Pro Bono/Community Lawyer of the Year category.

Presently, Isabella sits on various Operational Working Groups following the introduction of the Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Courts along with Legal Assistance Forums across the State.

Isabella regularly delivers presentations on topical legal matters, most recently as a Keynote Speaker in the JCU Law Seminar Series.
